Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has accused the Governor Hope Uzodinma of rendering the state bankrupt and insolvent to the extent that it cannot proactively fight crime.
The PDP Governorship candidate in the last Guber Poll in 2023 added that the state’s resources to the tune of over ten billion Naira (N10bn)was primitively wasted for vote buying during the 2023 governorship election.
Sen Anyanwu further averred that the state under APC recklessly lavished the state’s resources to purchase an unmerited mandate it has continued to parade, adding that as a man without genuine mission for the state, Uzodinma is simply in a hurry to cause more damage.
Anyanwu noted that as a result of the state’s present condition of insolvency, the non state actors have gained ground in attacking the entire state, causing havoc and maiming the citizens with government doing little or nothing to protect the people.
Condemning the gruesome murder of security operative and innocent citizens in the state on Monday, Anyanwu who is the PDP National Secretary urged Imo people to be conscious of their safety having seen very clearly that the APC administration has failed in that responsibility.
According to him, following the current financial predicament of Imo state, Uzodinma has unavoidably and deliberately refused to provide the needed financial and material resources to security agencies to enable them rid the state of insecurity.
The former Senator for Owerri Zone sympathized with the Imo state police command for the loss of its personnel as well as families of slain innocent citizens.
He noted that hoodlums continuously gain access into the state because the APC government is ill-prepared and ill-equipped to curb insecurity.
According to him, while the first tenure of Hope Uzodinma was characterized with excruciating pains, harsh policies, antagonizing decisions, vindictive approaches and cruelty, the PDP Governorship flag bearer in the last election expressed worry that Uzodinma’s unmerited second term will be insensitive to the protection, provision and improvement of the welfare of the citizens in the state.
He therefore admonishes Imo people to be prepared to witness another phase of uncoordinated and unprepared administration that is out to collapse the entire sectors of the state’s economy within few weeks which according to him, Uzodinma and his team have started already.
